He soon figured out (after I didn't know the "over and back" rule) that I was more into the games for the outfits and the tailgates.
We talked shop (Survivor) and then decided to take things to the next "level." We tweeted then texted, and then called and emailed.
We had our first date in Washington, DC. Eric drove down on a Sunday morning from New Jersey. He left hours earlier than anticipated (he was excited!) and drove the 245 miles, many of those miles through torrential downpours, to meet me in Virginia.

Eric learned to love coffee.
We moved into the city.
Dun dun dun....
My aunt is moving to Florida. To help tie up loose ends and see her newly remodeled and redecorated place, I booked a trip to visit her in DC. She wanted to go to the museum. We were "meeting" one of her "friends" to see a 1950s exhibit (bor-ing!). She HATES museums and sightseeing and traffic. I thought she just wanted one last visit to the monuments and museums before the big move. We got down there, parked (found an awesome spot!) and then walked to the museum. We got inside and started to wait for her "friend."
As we were waiting, I got a text from Eric:
As directed, I checked the Twitters and saw this:
| Cue the silent freak out. |
I was confused.
As I checked into the museum, I saw Eric was already checked in at the same museum. I was more confused.
| But proceeded to check-in on Foursquare. |
We walked over towards the entrance and spotted Eric walking in wearing my favorite shirt (!) and carrying a picnic basket a la Chopped (our favorite Food Network show). He got stopped at security -- threw out the corkscrew -- and walked inside.
He got down on one knee and asked me to marry him! I was shaking, but had the good sense to say YES. Still shocked, he asked what I wanted to do next. "Tweet!" I replied.
