Busy bee

 My brother came up to visit two weeks ago for the Louisville game, and I'm lucky enough to have him coming again this weekend (Saturday) for the Villanova game.  As much as things have been rough for him the past year, I know we are now closer than ever, and for that I am very grateful.

My mom is also on the schedule for a visit this week (Thursday).  Unfortunately a nor'easter is putting a wrench into our plans for pedicures, and her visit may be delayed.  After thoroughly testing the pedicure community, I have found the absolute best pedicure right here in Syracuse.  Obviously it's right next to Wegmans.  Hot stones, need I say more?  There is something about getting you feet all pretty that just makes a girl feel good.

And to cap off the weekend, Sunday is "Green Beer Sunday" at Coleman's, my favorite watering hole here in Syracuse.  A huge truck delivers the first batch of green beer starting the beginning of St. Patrick's "season."

Another busy weekend that is really starting off a stretch of busy weekends.  Upcoming trips include Boston, Turks & Caicos, and DC.  I'm trying to fit everything in before a busy summer of studying, coffee, and more studying.  It's kind of scary to think this is my last few months of the college lifestyle.  On cue, I just started to get chest pains.  Yikes.  Breathe.

Told you I liked books

I've been reading The Emperor's Children by Claire Messud for probably a year now.  NYT gave it a favorable review, but the B&N woman told me she didn't like it.  And me?  I just can't finish it.  But, since I'm more than halfway through, I just won't stop reading it.  At what point do I just say to myself, "put the book down." 


House Rules, Jodi Picoult's newest book hits the Amazon virtual shelves March 2, 2010, perfect timing for Spring Break.  I'm hoping Amazon ships a la Harry Potter, and I get it on the release date.  (Or I could go to an actual STORE, but who does that anymore?)  Not including this new book, I have three more of Picoult's books to read and then I've read all eighteen of her books.  I tend to do this sort of thing with books, music, and probably other things I don't even realize.  Instead of downloading one song, I download an album.  Instead of reading one book, I read them all.  I think I'm halfway through all of John Grisham's.

Throwback:

A gaming tradition

My brother and I have a tradition of going to Syracuse basketball games.  To be honest, if it weren't for him, I'm not sure if I would have gone to any games.  However, now I'm a true fan - three bright orange shirts, one gray shirt, one sweatshirt and I even have a favorite player, Arinze Onuaku.  Have you heard a better name?  (Okay, Scoop Jardine is a pretty cool name too).

2007 (Georgetown)

Tomorrow we're going to the Louisville game, and in honor of Valentine's Day, I made a little sign for Louisville's coach, Rick Pitino, who according to my brother is "such a guido."  Well, in that case, of course he would be perfect for Snooki.

2008 (Villanova)

I had to buy a set of magic markers and poster board.  Staples no longer offers single sheets of plain white poster board - there are three packs with ghostline grids, foam boards in every color, and not even single sheets of the plain white foam board - only sets of three.  I guess kids these days use the colored foam boards since they print things off the computer and adhere.  Handwriting a poster is so 2000 and late.

I went with the three pack of ghostline grid (it made straight lines and measurements very easy).  My black magic marker barely lasted for Pitino's name.  They don't make things like they used to.
